Engineering · Full-time · On-site at customers (mainly the Setouchi area); no relocation — work locally
Shipbuilding Domain Expert (Ship Design · Work Locally)
Turn your ship-design expertise into an AI-era edge — without uprooting your life — at the core of AI × design.
- 船舶設計
- 船殻・艤装
- NAPA / AVEVA / CADMATIC
- 船級対応
- 造船×AI
What you'll do
- [Phase 1: On-site deployment] Work on-site at major customers, driving the adoption and day-to-day use of the AI agent "Noah"
- Interview the customer's design and production teams and feed requirements back into the product
- Support sales meetings alongside the CEO on the technical side (grounding proposals in real practice, estimating effort and cost-effectiveness, spotting seeds for follow-on work)
- [Phase 2: Building the in-house design team (after deployment)] Take on design work itself as a core member of an in-house team that delivers design services together with AI
- Inject design knowledge into the product — reviewing AI output and building ground-truth data
Must-haves
- 10+ years of design-related work (basic design, detail design, production design, drawing review, etc.) at a member shipyard of the Shipbuilders' Association of Japan or the Cooperative Association of Japan Shipbuilders, a ship design subcontractor, a classification society, or a government agency
Nice to have
- Basic-to-detail design experience in hull structure, outfitting, machinery, or electrical
- Experience coordinating with production design and the shop floor (hull construction, outfitting work)
- Experience with classification societies (drawing approval, survey attendance)
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools (NAPA / AVEVA / CADMATIC, etc.)
- Interest in AI tools (no prior experience required)
Our strengths
- Industry focus — all-in on shipbuilding, compounding deep domain knowledge
- AI-agent native — built for real-world adoption, not PoC theater
- Speed & flexibility — a startup's agility and execution
- Social impact — solving skill succession × shorter build times
Who we're looking for
- Questions how things are done today, has ideas for improvement, and senses that change might come easier from a position slightly outside
- Enters the customer's workplace with respect and drives change grounded in real operations
- Finds 0→1 in the most under-digitized giant industry genuinely exciting
Terms & employment
Full-time (3-month probation). Full flextime / remote OK. Location: On-site at customers (mainly the Setouchi area); no relocation — work locally (relocating near Ōmori in 2027). Stock options available.
Why this role
Work from your home region — no Tokyo relocation, and this is not a sales role. Your design knowledge is not what AI replaces: you teach AI the right answers and carry out design work together with it, later becoming a founding member of our in-house AI × design team.
